About Me
Hi, I'm Helen, and I love to tell stories. When you see the word "journalist," your first thought may be that I'm a grammar fanatic or a coffee addict. While I don't consider myself those things — and more power to those who do — let me tell you about myself.
I am a content creator, who is currently working at the Ceramic and Glass Industry Foundation as the Communications and Grants Associate and learning how to combine marketing with storytelling and fundraising.
I am a writer, with more than 40 bylines across all seven of CityScene Media Group's magazines in Columbus.
I am an editor, who oversaw a team of writers as Backdrop magazine's managing editor from 2021-2022 at Ohio University.
I am a storyteller, who wrote a children's book in 2020 based on magical characters from the Wash Wizard Car Wash franchise.
I am a leader, who served on Ohio University's Society of Professional Journalists executive board from 2019-2022 and led the organization as vice president.
I am not only passionate about telling stories, but that I am passionate about doing it in various, creative ways. I'm not the journalist who has taken a traditional route, but I am the journalist who's a writer, editor, and creative storyteller at heart. As I begin my professional career, my goal is to continue on a path that embraces these skills.
